I like to consider myself a girly tomboy. I will gladly kick off my heels and go hunting for bugs and insects. I am a mother of 2 teenagers. In my spare time I enjoy coaching sports, kayaking, collecting houseplants, hiking, gardening and the outdoors. My passion for nature started when I was a young girl. I’d spend hours outside looking for interesting plants and flipping rocks or logs looking for bugs and insects. My grandfather would take me on hikes, where he would show me different plants, animals and insects that we would find along the way

Going out at night with a flashlight looking for toads or bugs was my favorite. As a teenager I was fortunate enough to do volunteer work at a local nature center where I grew up in Maryland. It was there that I fell in love with the aspect of teaching people to not be afraid of things they saw in nature that scared them like snakes, spiders, and other bugs or insects.
Although I was very nervous about presenting BugMan programs at 1st, teaching others the importance of living things has enriched my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Watching someone go from being scared of something, to enjoying and respecting it, is so amazing! I know that my BugMan education programs are helping to preserve our beautiful Earth.
